Our frozen 1-litre tub of Polish Bigos brings the deep, rich flavour of traditional Polish cooking straight to your home. Bigos, often called Hunter’s Stew, is a hearty dish made with sauerkraut, cabbage, meats, and spices that slowly develop their flavour over time.

To enjoy it at its best, we recommend heating it gently so the flavours can fully develop.

Best Method (Recommended)

  1. Defrost the Bigos first – place the sealed container in the refrigerator overnight or until fully thawed.
  2. Transfer the Bigos into a large pot (about 1.5 L capacity).
  3. Heat slowly on low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Once hot, it is ready to serve.

Slow heating allows the ingredients to warm evenly and helps release the full depth of flavour that makes Bigos so special.

Faster Method

  1. Place the frozen Bigos in a microwave and defrost it using the defrost setting.
  2. Transfer the thawed Bigos into a pot.
  3. Heat gently on the stove until hot.

Quickest Method

You can also heat the Bigos entirely in the microwave until hot.

While this works well when you are short on time, slow heating in a pot gives the best flavour.
